Remembering Your Baby Scrapbooking: What to Include

I probably have more than most bereaved parents have to put in their scrapbooks because we did have the knowledge that Sammie would not survive before his birth. Use what you have. Anything that reminds you of your baby, your time together or otherwise gives you comfort is what should be included.

  • ultrasound photos*
  • footprint and/or handprint cards from the hospital*
  • pictures from the hospital*
  • hospital momentoes (lock of hair, bracelet, crib card)
  • cards and emails you received after announcing your pregnancy or after the loss of your baby
  • poems that you like or have been written in memory of your baby
  • journal entries written by you
  • order of service from the funeral or memorial
  • a letter (or letters) written to your baby
  • pictures from your baby's grave if you decorate or redecorate with the season/holiday
  • baby shower pictures
  • pictures of things you did while pregnant with your baby
  • birthday tributes
  • any memorial you created for your baby (such as garden, cross-stitch, quilt)
  • maternity clothes pages (take pictures of your favorite outfits that you wore while pregnant)

*For Polaroid and ultrasound pictures, please have them scanned and reprinted. They have a tendency to deteriorate over time. DO NOT cut Polaroids apart as this further speeds up deterioration. You may also wish to scan and reprint footprint cards and put all the originals in a fire safe box. The Kodak Picture Maker is great for scanning, copying and reprinting! I used my home scanner for Sammie's ultrasounds set on 400 DPI and printed on the "best" feature. If you are printing from home, use archival safe paper (and ink, if possible!)
